Buy a Small or Mini Portable Sewing Machine Online

I learned basic sewing while I was still at school from my Mother who was a real pro who used to stitch most of my dresses. Whenever there is some stitching or mending to be done my mother always used to do it without depending on Tailors. After I got married I mostly had to depend on Tailors whenever I wanted to do a second stitch for new clothes, stitch fall on Saris or do anything else with clothes till I purchased a mini portable sized sewing machine. There are several reasons which prompted me to purchase a sewing machine.

• Depending on other people to do my work is something I absolutely hate. In Mumbai especially Tailors are reluctant if there is some mending to be done on old clothes. If at all someone accepts such work, they take their own time for completing the work.
• With 2 children in the house there is always some basic stitching and mending work to do. During Festival Seasons especially the Tailors in my locality are loaded with work before a month itself. But I do most of my purchases at last moment for festivals or occasions like Birthdays etc which makes it almost impossible to get a second stitching in time on the cloths which require it.
• My creativity was suffering. Back at my Parental home I used to do a lot of Crafts and other stitching work whenever I use to have the time. Now that I have purchased a portable sewing machine whenever I feel creative I have fun making things with the machine.

If you ask me, at least a Basic Sewing Machine is an absolute necessity of every household. Don’t you think?

Though I thought that a Sewing Machine was an absolute necessity for me, there were several things which stopped me from going for a full fledged version. Some of those were

• Space: Though I stay in a 3 Bedroom Apartment with my Husband, Kids and live in maid, my home does not have too much space to accommodate bulky equipments or gadgets without compromising on the looks and feel of the rooms.
• Utility and Cost: Though cost was never an issue if I wanted to buy a sewing machine, I hate accumulating things which I would use only sparingly. Second Hand Machines may have been economical and come for fraction of the cost, but I never was a fan of second hand things except heirlooms. With a full time job to do, I also did not think that I have the time or patience of utilizing the sewing machine on a regular basis. Moreover, I am also not a pro like my mother.
• Safety: With 2 active, curious and naughty kids at home I should be worried about their safety too. There is absolutely no way of stopping the curious kids from fiddling with the machine if they see it.
• Easy to use

Considering the above, I decided that I wanted to buy a Sewing Machine but would purchase a Mini or Portable Sewing Machine Only which does not cost me much money. And I am happy to say that it was value for money.

• The Full-fledged Machines are bulky and takes a lot of space where as a mini and portable sewing machine is compact and light weight and does not require much storage space. This also makes them easy to carry while moving out or going for a vacation. You can also easy hide them from your kids.
• Mini Sewing Machines come with manual and all standard accessories like a needle threader, control pedal, bobbins and more and are ideal for craft projects or basic mending. I enjoy making Barbie Doll Dresses, pillow covers etc and this sort of machine suits my requirement completely. One can easily sew through leather, denim, silk or lace with this machine.
• I would have been skeptic about buying a mini portable sewing machine if they were not available in the best brands to choose. Fortunately some of the best brands like Brother, Singer, Kenmore and Consew manufacture battery run and electrical portable sewing machines.
• They are also available in various models and adorable colors like pink, red, blue, green, lavender etc to choose from.
